AARDA sponsors scientific meetings in order to bring together scientists from many different medical specialties around the broad topic of autoimmunity. AARDA does this to increase cross fertilization of scientific knowledge about autoimmunity in the research community. Public forums are presented as a method of educating the public about autoimmune diseases in general.

What Every American Needs to Know About Autoimmune Disease a FREE Public Forum, on October 2, 2010 in Cleveland, OH. The forum will be held in the afternoon from 1:00-4:00 at the Holiday Inn-Cleveland South Independence at 6001 Rockside Rd, Independence, OH, 44131, which is at the crossroads of I-77 and I-480. Speaking about "What is Autoimmunity" will be Robert M. Lowe, MD, PhD, from University Hospitals at Case Medical Center. Dr. Lowe is a Fellow, Pediatric Rheumatology at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Virginia Ladd will present information about "Autoimmunity: A Women's Health Issue" and "Patient to Patient Coping Techniques". How to Dance In the Rain - Rxs for Mind, Body and Spirit in Warren, Michigan on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 8:00 to 4:00. This full day seminar for the autoimmune community is being planned by the Michigan Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation and AARDA. It will be held at the John Lewis Center, Macomb Community College in Warren. Featuring Dr. Noel R. Rose of the Johns Hopkins Center for Autoimmune Diseases Research, Rita Baron-Faust, author of The Autoimmune Connection, Virginia Ladd of AARDA, Dr Elena Schiopu and Dr. Kristine Phillips, Scleroderma experts from the University of Michigan and other experts on ocular disease, fatigue, fitness, nutrition, coping, laughter therapy and more. $30 fee includes breakfast and lunch.
